The In-Between Hour

Broadcast September 30 at 8 PM ET. Still printing to order.

Iwafune, a rural Japanese train station, at night in heavy snowfall. Empty platform. A small commuter train approaching with warm sodium-amber lit windows spilling light onto the snow. Tall electrical pylon gantries above. A red signal lamp glows on the right. A streetlamp on the left casts a soft cool glow on snow-covered ground. Painted in watercolor.

Companion

The In-Between Hour leans into kataware-doki, threshold, the held breath in transit — the Companion echoes that across listening, reading, and watching.

Listening

Film scores (RADWIMPS, Eiko Ishibashi), Japanese ambient (Hiroshi Yoshimura), Burial, Mary Lattimore, and Brian Eno. Six tracks of held breath, to find wherever you listen.
